National Security Council: “Tension in Black Sea should be eased” (TASS)

Türkiye's National Security Council (NSC) stated that tensions in the Black Sea should be eased amid increasing attacks on Turkish commercial vessels.

NSC called for a de-escalation of tensions in the Black Sea.

According to a statement from Türkiye's Directorate of Communications, "At the NSC meeting, it was stated that concrete steps should be taken to reduce the escalating tensions in the region and to establish peace."

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously expressed serious concern over the escalation of the conflict in the Black Sea following the attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 3 August against the dry bulk carriers Nadezhda and Yaşar near Novorossiysk. In the ministry's statement, it was said that failure to take measures to prevent further escalation would have serious consequences, including for food security.
