President Erdoğan signs circular on use of “Türkiye” as brand

The circular establishes the “Türkiye” brand as the country’s umbrella brand in national and international media.

The Presidential Circular on the use of “Türkiye” as a brand for export products, all types of activities and correspondence was signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and promulgated in the Official Gazette.

The circular states that in light of thousands of years of state tradition, the State of the Republic of Türkiye acknowledges the preservation and elevation of its nation’s culture and values as one of its key duties by carrying out significant and notable achievements befitting the ancient Turkish nation.

The circular emphasises that in efforts carried out with this understanding at home and abroad, the values derived from the Turkish nation’s deep-rooted history are treated with the utmost care and that the “Türkiye” brand is accepted as the country’s umbrella brand in national and international media.

The circular notes:

“The phrase ‘Türkiye’ symbolises and conveys the Turkish nation’s culture, civilisation, and values in the best way possible. As part of this, the phrase ‘Made in Türkiye’ instead of ‘Made in Turkey’ began to be used in our export products; as a result, our products, which are the pride of our country in international trade, are promoted and presented to the rest of the world using the ‘Türkiye’ branding. Our aim is now to represent our state and nation’s thousands of years of experience in every sector under the ‘Türkiye' brand.

In this context, as part of the efforts to strengthen the 'Türkiye' brand, necessary emphasis will be placed on the use of "Türkiye" instead of ‘Turkey,’ ‘Turkei,’ ‘Turquie,’ and other similar phrases in all types of activities and correspondence, in official relations with especially other states and international institutions and organisations."
