On his Twitter account, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared a post on ‘Turkey's first domestically-made drilling vessel Fatih’, which was bid farewell today from Istanbul to the Black Sea.
In his post, President Erdoğan said, “Our Fatih Drilling Vessel headed towards the Black Sea for new drillings by crossing the Bosphorus on this special day, the 567th anniversary of the Conquest of Istanbul. May Allah make it to be auspicious.”
On the graphic in the post, Erdoğan noted, "We preserve and protect the interests of our country not only in the territory of 780 thousand square kilometers of homeland, but also in the Blue Homeland line surrounded by the three sides. I wish success for our Fatih Drilling Vessel’s mission which started on this special day.”
Technical information about the vessel was also shared on the graphic that includes Fatih’s photo taken within the Hagia Sophia frame.
It is stated that the vessel, which is 229 meters long, 36 meters wide and 51 thousand 283 gross tons, has a drilling depth of 12 thousand meters.
Moreover, it is noted that more than 200 crew work on the vessel, which has 6th generation high-advanced technology and active conditioning system.
