President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received Chairman of the Presidential Council of Government of National Accord of Libya, Fayez Al Sarraj, at Vahdettin Mansion in Istanbul.
The closed-door reception at the Vahdettin Mansion lasted 2 hours and 35 minutes.
The developments in Libya, bilateral relations, and regional issues were discussed during the reception with the Chairman of the Presidential Council of Government of National Accord of Libya, Fayez Al Sarraj, and our President.
A productive meeting was held between our President and Chairman Sarraj that would contribute to the peace, security, and prosperity of the Libyan people and strengthen bilateral relations.
During the meeting, our President stated that Turkey would continue to be in solidarity with the UN-recognised legitimate government of Libya and reiterated that Turkey’s priority was to ensure stability in Libya by protecting its political unity and territorial integrity.
Emphasizing that the peace and tranquillity to be achieved in Libya would benefit the whole region, especially the neighbouring countries and Europe, our President expressed that the international community should put a principled stance accordingly.
During the meeting, issues that would strengthen the cooperation implemented within the framework of the memorandum of understandings signed by Turkey with the legitimate government in Libya and steps to protect the rights of Turkey and Libya in the eastern Mediterranean were evaluated.
