Presidency's Directorate of Communications published a book on Türkiye's successful fight against the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The book titled "Global Pandemic of the Century: Türkiye's Successful Fight against Coronavirus" was published on March 15, 2021.
The book, which tells about Türkiye's fight against coronavirus, also provides a comprehensive account of the government's actions in the areas of education, economy, trade, working life and social life, and especially health.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan penned the foreword of the book "Türkiye's Successful Fight against Coronavirus".
Noting that Türkiye was challenged seriously regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, which was the biggest crisis confronted by humanity in modern times, President Erdoğan indicated that the pandemic, which completed its first year, was not over yet, and they made significant progress thanks to the patience, self-sacrifice and faith of the nation.
President Erdoğan reiterated that in the past year, the healthcare systems of many countries, including some countries in Europe and the US, which were included in the developed countries category, collapsed, and the people were tried to be treated in the hospital corridors, and many people lost their lives.
Pointing out that, as Türkiye, they took all measures and carried out all work meticulously during this period, President Erdoğan stated that they constructed hospitals that would cope with this disease, the world had difficulties in overcoming, under the most modern conditions.
Emphasizing that they first of all implemented science-based process management in the fight against the coronavirus, President Erdoğan said that the Coronavirus Scientific Board was established on January 10, 2020, two months before the first case was seen in Türkiye, thus, with a board consisting of the experts on the subject, they started monitoring and evaluating the pandemic globally.
Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun, who wrote the preface of the book, reminded that they had witnessed one of the most profound crises in the history of humanity in the last year.
Director of Communications Altun noted that the Covid-19 pandemic, which was one of the rare events that affected the whole world, regardless of developed-underdeveloped, north-south, rich-poor countries, has already had detrimental effects, the consequences of which concerned human life, health, economy, trade, politics, psychology and sociology.
Stressing that while some countries failed to an unexpected extent in this pandemic that would affect the coming decades, other countries set an example to the world within the spirit of unity and solidarity, Altun added, "Türkiye has taken its place in the category of successful countries which act with the nation-state unity and solidarity while fighting against this pandemic, that deeply shook the world. Türkiye has not put up this fight for itself only, but it has also fought to help other countries. Our fight, under the leadership of our President, for a world where conscience, humanity, equity, justice and truth prevail, has also manifested itself in this pandemic period."
Director of Communications Altun noted that ,thanks to the measures taken, supports offered, efforts exerted, and incentives provided from the very first days of the pandemic, the year Türkiye spent with coronavirus was much better compared to many other countries around the world.
Director of Communications underlined that the Turkish nation, who had been struggling to overcome the century's most significant health crisis through such solidarity, understanding, patience and faith, as to set an example for the world, should display some more patience, which was crucial for this pandemic to end.
Stating that Türkiye, where vaccination is given to all citizens free of charge and without any discrimination, would also heal all the wounds caused by the global pandemic in a relatively short period, Altun added:
"Because we are a nation. We can also blossom all the feelings that come with being a nation and do what must be done. This book is of a testimonial nature to make history, representing in detail every aspect of the fight our state and our nation has put up against Covid-19 over the last year under the leadership of our President. It is my wish that the future generations will recall this epic struggle with gratitude and better relay what we have accomplished for humanity."
