“We are taking the necessary steps meticulously regarding environment, climate, and waste management”

Speaking at the Zero Waste Forum Gala Dinner, President Erdoğan said: “Regarding nature both as a responsibility entrusted to us by our Lord and as a heritage that should be handed down to future generations, we as Türkiye are taking the necessary steps meticulously concerning environment, climate, and waste management. Acting with an approach based on green transformation, circular economy and sustainable development, we are exerting intensive efforts to minimize the effects of climate crisis.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech during the Zero Waste Forum Gala Dinner held at Istanbul Atatürk Airport.

“Regarding nature both as a responsibility entrusted to us by our Lord and as a heritage that should be handed down to future generations, we as Türkiye are taking the necessary steps meticulously concerning environment, climate, and waste management. Acting with an approach based on green transformation, circular economy and sustainable development, we are exerting intensive efforts to minimize the effects of climate crisis. The ‘Zero Waste Movement’, launched in 2017 under the leadership of my wife Emine Erdoğan, has now thankfully turned into a global environment movement recognized by the United Nations. The designation of March 30 as the International Day of Zero Waste in a voting held in 2022, in which Türkiye was the main sponsor and 105 countries co-sponsors, became the most precious fruit of the sincere efforts in this direction. Through the projects and practices launched as part of the Zero Waste Movement, we have contributed exactly 365 billion Turkish Liras to our economy and recycled 90 million tons of waste,” President Erdoğan said.
