Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan yesterday commemorated Alija Izetbegovic, the first President of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the 23rd anniversary of his passing. Erdoğan said he commemorated Izetbegovic with mercy, longing and respect, describing Alija, whom he referred to as his friend and brother, as a wise leader.
Erdoğan said, "I commemorate with mercy, longing and respect my friend and brother Alija Izetbegovic, the first President of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a wise leader, on the 23rd anniversary of his passing. May Allah grant him Paradise.”
