Speaking at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Hun of Cambodia, President Erdoğan said: “I regard Cambodia, with which we have rapidly improving relations especially in recent years, as one of our important partners in the Southeastern Asia region.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia held a joint press conference following their talks and the signing ceremony of the agreements signed between the two countries at Dolmabahçe Presidential Office in Istanbul.
“We endeavor to achieve $1-Billion trade volume”
Voicing his pleasure over hosting Prime Minister Hun of Cambodia and his delegation in Istanbul, President Erdoğan said: “I regard Cambodia, with which we have rapidly improving relations especially in recent years, as one of our important partners in the Southeastern Asia region. We have thoroughly addressed our relations during our tête-à-tête and the meeting between the delegations with Mr. Prime Minister. In 2018, we decided with then-Prime Minister Hun Sen, who was paying a visit to our country, to increase our trade to $1 billion. We continue to endeavor to achieve this goal. I hope that the Türkiye-Cambodia Business Forum, held this morning, will lead to the strengthening of the relations between our business circles.”
“We provide support to cambodian students through our Türkiye scholarship programs”
Stating that besides trade and investments, they have discussed the two countries’ cooperation in the areas of defense industry, energy, education and culture during today’s talks, President Erdoğan noted: “We are pleased over the interest Cambodia shows in our defense industry products. We have a significant potential in this area, and we will inshallah improve our cooperation with them. The projects carried out by TİKA and the Yunus Emre Institute significantly contribute to the enhancement of our social relations. Also, we provide support to Cambodian students through our Türkiye Scholarship programs.”
“Our bilateral cooperation with Cambodia also serves the establishment of global peace”
“Our bilateral cooperation with Cambodia also serves the establishment of global peace, stability and prosperity. That Cambodia has joined the Gaza Board of Peace as a founding member is extremely pleasing. I believe that their contributions to the works carried out on the basis of two-state solution in Palestine will continue. We hope that the border dispute between Cambodia and Thailand will be resolved on the basis of international law through dialogue and peaceful means. We continue to support the civilians affected by the conflicts that have taken place. In coordination with Cambodian officials, we have delivered aid to over 3,000 people thus far. We will maintain our humanitarian aid works,” President Erdoğan added.
