President Erdoğan: "We have built more than double the number of dams in the history of the Republic in just 21 years, and we have not wasted a single drop of water in our country.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared a post on his social media account on the occasion of World Water Day.
"We have built more than double the number of dams in the history of the Republic in just 21 years, and we have not wasted a single drop of water in our country," President Erdoğan said and added that they would continue to work hard to protect water resources, the most strategic value of the next century.
Sharing an infographic on water investments, President Erdoğan said: "With the awareness that water is the source of life for our civilization, we will uninterruptedly continue our projects and bring them together in the best way possible with our beloved nation that uses water efficiently, manages it properly and is as precious as water."
Water investment totalled 479 billion liras over a 21-year period, according to the infographic.
716 dams, 615 HEPPs, 1633 irrigation facilities, 481 ponds and weirs, 302 drinking water facilities, 24 wastewater facilities, 5,395 flood control facilities have been built, and investments have been made for 101 underground storage tanks and artificial feeding.
