President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan cast their votes in the second round of presidential elections at Saffet Çebi Middle School in Istanbul.
President Erdoğan made a brief statement after casting his vote.
Noting that the first ever runoff is taking place in the history of Turkish democracy, President Erdoğan said: “There are only two candidates today. And our people will cast their votes for these two candidates. Therefore, I believe today’s voting will be concluded very quickly.”
Underlining that there is no country in the history of the world with such a participation of up to 90 percent, President Erdoğan said: “Türkiye has demonstrated its democratic struggle in the best manner with a participation of up to 90 percent. I also believe our people will do the same today.”
Expressing his wish that the elections may lead to auspicious results for the country and the nation, President Erdoğan said: “I especially ask my citizens to participate until the last moment, without giving way to complacency.”
