Statement regarding President Erdoğan’s meeting with PM Al Sudani of Iraq

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani of Iraq at Vahdettin Mansion in Istanbul.

The meeting addressed relations between Türkiye and Iraq, as well as regional and global issues.

Expressing that Türkiye and Iraq are two neighboring countries with deep-rooted historical and cultural ties, President Erdoğan stated that developing relations and evaluating cooperation opportunities, particularly the Development Road Project, will bring significant benefits to both countries and that they will continue to take the required steps with determination to this end.

Pointing out the security risks terrorist organizations pose for both Türkiye and Iraq, President Erdoğan stated that fighting all terrorist organizations without discrimination will serve the peace and stability of both countries and that Türkiye welcomes the positive steps taken by the Iraqi government in the fight against the PKK/KCK terrorist organization.

President Erdoğan noted that the expanding Israeli aggression in our region is a threat to both regional and world peace, that the international community, the countries in the region in particular, should act in solidarity to prevent this from happening and ensure peace and calm, and that Türkiye will maintain its efforts for peace.
