Member of the Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Committee of GNAT (Grand National Assembly of Turkey) and AK Party Kocaeli Deputy Zeki Aygün said if Turkey succeeded in realizing its projects and prototypes in the defence industry; it would be able to develop its defence industry independently of the West. “We have developed the systems that will disrupt and ruin the electronic systems of our opponents.” Aygün said.
Noting that a country could not develop by relying solely on domestic trade, Aygün said the following: "We have armed unmanned aerial vehicles. They are currently capable of carrying 200 kg of ammunition yet we are developing new ones capable of carrying 700 kg of ammunition. There are also the Patriot missiles, which are rented from the Netherlands; yet they refused to give us this support although Turkey is a member of NATO. There are similar systems of protective shields; prototypes have been developed and everything is ready yet there is a need for financing to progress to the manufacturing stage.”
